Information on architectural visualization
Architectural visualization

Architectural visualization is the realistic representation of a building and its surrounding area, in electronic form.
The 3d architectural visualizations can be created before the construction of the building, with the use of the two-dimensional architectural drawings.

The process

The two-dimensional drawings are imported into the 3d design program, and they are used as a guide to create all the architectural details of the building.

After creating the three-dimensional model the addition of materials and colors of each surface takes place, taking into consideration the texture, transparency, and its reflective and refractive properties.

The next step is adding and adjusting the appropriate lighting, natural, artificial or a combination of both, depending on the requirements of each project.

The choice of position of the camera is also a part of the process, very decisive for the final aesthetic result. Close up or overall shot, high or low, focused on details, are some of the options, and they are selected according to the project’s needs and how the architect wishes to highlight his work.

In the final stage (rendering) the software translates all the above parameters. By calculating the reflections of light and its interaction with the surfaces of the building, gives us the result of a realistic three-dimensional representation of the building and its surrounding area.

Presentation forms

Architectural visualizations can be presented as static images or video.

In the case of static shots, the visualizations may be printed on photo quality paper in any dimension is necessary. The deliverables also include the electronic form of the images (.tif files) , to cover the possibility of reprinting and creating signs.

Video is delivered either as avi/wmv files or burned in DVD format.

For the better presentation of the project, there is also the capability of creating a brochure and/or a website.

A brochure allows presentation of all data and details of the building. 3d representations of the exterior and interior, colored floor plans (three-dimensional or two-dimensional) information on the dimensions of each floor, road map of the area, contact details etc.

A website, provides the opportunity of presenting all the aspects and details of a building. It is easily accessible by all and the address can be sent easily via email. Another key feature is that it may contain text, images and video, helping in a more integrated presentation.

Importance

3d visualization is the most direct form of presentation of a building before its construction, and thus helps reducing investment risk. In the past it was necessary to complete the construction of a building before promotion could start. Two-dimensional architectural drawings are unfortunately very difficult to read for the average prospective buyer, and help visualizing the final aesthetic result.

By creating three-dimensional representations, with a very small proportion of the total cost, the possibility of direct marketing and sale is given.

Benefits

The 3d representation of a building, has additional benefits for the constructor and the architect. The accurate depiction of the building before construction can aid in early plan changes, and avoid potential construction mistakes.

In addition, multiple alternatives and options in choosing colors and materials can optimize the final aesthetic result.
